Service territory covers MA, CT, Upstate NY, NH, VT, and parts of ME. Travel is required within the region and will vary by dispatch needs.
Job Summary
We are hiring a Refrigeration Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain light commercial refrigeration equipment including coolers, ice makers, and closed refrigeration systems. This is a field-based role supporting multiple commercial accounts, with a focus on quality repairs, strong communication, and accurate service documentation.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain light commercial refrigeration equipment (coolers, ice makers, closed refrigeration systems)
- Run reactive service calls and scheduled preventative maintenance across multiple accounts
- Identify root causes and complete repairs to reduce repeat calls
- Perform leak checks, pressure tests, refrigerant recovery, evacuation, and recharge in compliance with EPA requirements
- Replace and repair components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, metering devices, fans, and electrical controls
- Manage dispatched work orders using service management software via mobile device, including clear notes, labor, and parts documentation
- Maintain basic vehicle inventory to ensure common parts and materials are stocked
- Communicate professionally with customers, provide updates, and set expectations
- Verify equipment operation and quality before leaving the site
Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on experience servicing light commercial refrigeration (coolers, ice makers, closed systems)
- EPA 608 Universal Certification required
- Strong refrigeration fundamentals and ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical failures
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Able to work independently, manage time well, and complete multiple service calls per shift
Preferred (nice to have)
- Ice maker experience (Manitowoc, Hoshizaki, Scotsman, Ice-O-Matic)
- Cooler brand experience (True, Imbera, Minus Forty)
- Closed loop beverage refrigeration system experience
- Hydrocarbon refrigerant experience or certification
