Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and technically sound CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will operate, set up, and program multiple CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines, including lathes, milling, and grinding machines, to produce precision components in accordance with technical specifications. This role is vital in ensuring high-quality production, efficiency, and adherence to safety standards. The ideal applicant will possess strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency in CNC programming, and experience with various measuring instruments to deliver exceptional craftsmanship.
Duties
- Sets up and operates CNC machines, performs machine functions on metal work pieces in a safe manner.
- Stop machines to remove finished work pieces, or to change tooling, setup, or work piece placement, according to required machining sequences.
- Measures dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
- Provides timely and complete communication to all operational and functional teams regarding quality or mechanical issues.
- Mounts, installs, aligns, and secures tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Stop machines to remove finished work pieces, or to change tooling, setup, or work piece placement, according to required machining sequences.
- Monitors machine operation and control panel displays and compare readings to specifications in order to detect malfunctions.
- Takes apart and reverse engineers parts.
- Makes adjustments to machines to maintain quality standards.
- Consistently meets production and quality standards and works with Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) in mind.
- Records down time, maintains production records, and other data entry as needed.
- Other duties as assigned to support production needs.
Experience
- CNC machining/programming experience.
- Must read G-code and have CNC programming experience.
- Experience reading engineering drawings to quality check work.
- Ability to use both hands to pick-up and manipulate small parts simultaneously.
- Must be able to work overtime as needed, sometimes on short notice or on weekends.
- Ability to work at a fast pace, standing or walking most of the shift.
- Can work successfully in a team environment and is willing to take direction from others.
- Understanding of quality control concepts and processes within a manufacturing environment
