CNC Laser / Punch Operator
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced CNC Laser / Punch Operator for a manufacturing opportunity in a metal fabrication environment.
This position will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC laser cutting equipment and laser/punch combination machinery, completing quality checks, handling finished parts, and supporting general production needs throughout the shop.
Openings:
- Day Shift: Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. during training
- Night Shift: Monday-Thursday, 3:30 p.m.-2:00 a.m.
Type: Temp-to-hire
Responsibilities include:
- Set up and operate CNC laser cutting and laser/punch combination equipment
- Monitor cutting quality and machine performance during production
- Perform first-piece inspections and submit parts for quality approval
- Read blueprints and work instructions
- Use calipers, micrometers, tape measures, gauge pins, squares, and other measuring tools
- Identify and distinguish different material types
- Remove finished parts from laser-cut skeletons and prepare them for the next department
- Deburr finished parts as needed
- Maintain accurate ERP production data
- Operate basic hand and power tools
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow ISO quality requirements and company safety procedures
- Assist with other production and shop tasks as needed
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of CNC experience in metal fabrication or a related manufacturing environment
- Experience with Trumpf or similar CNC laser or laser/punch equipment preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read blueprints
- Experience using precision measuring tools
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and learn new equipment and processes
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- High school diploma or GED preferred
This is a hands-on manufacturing position ideal for someone with CNC, laser cutting, punch press, or related metal fabrication experience who is looking to continue developing their skills.
